How does Microsoft gauge feedback?

All companies need to ensure that they are constantly meeting customer’s needs, so they need to make sure that they are communicating with their target market. If not they are at risk of falling behind other companies within the same sector. The importance of communicating with their target market is key to not only the success of the company but also the development of it.  Microsoft are a company that need to make sure they have constant communication with their customers. No matter how big the company is they still need to make sure that they are making the right product to match the customer’s needs.

We all know that Microsoft had problems with the launch of its operating system Windows 8, this is because it did not appeal to customers’ needs. Knowing this Microsoft acted quickly, they needed to find out what was wrong with it and why customers disliked it. So they “embarked on a serious customer feedback program” (Microsoft Opens Window to Customer Feedback, No Date).  The reason they done this is to ensure that they get the right information. They felt that by asking the customers they would have a better product that suited the customers. Before releasing Windows 10 they launched a preview of the operating system to “Windows Insider Program” and “[they also] extend the Insider program to customers as well” (Microsoft Opens Window to Customer Feedback, No Date).  This shows us that they wanted to make sure that they had the right product before they released it.
